Broken Circle (Sirius Wolves # 2): Victoria Sue

PUBLISHER: Dark Hollows Press

ABOUT: Blaze, the most powerful werewolf on the planet has found his omega, Aden. Together with Conner and Darric they finally become true mates, fulfilling an ancient prophecy by the goddess Sirius and forming Orion’s Circle. The battle against the terrorist group, the Winter Circle, has begun.

Blaze, however, is fighting his own battle. Aden is due to birth a child, and despite Blaze’s six hundred years of being an Alpha, nothing has prepared him for his hardest challenge yet — how to become a father. His struggles are hurting the people he loves the most and threatening their bond.

The madman who kidnapped and tortured Aden still hasn’t been caught, and when the worst happens and their circle is broken, Blaze has to fight his biggest threat yet – his own inner weakness – an enemy against which his Alpha strength will be useless. Blaze has to learn that true strength is only found in forgiveness, and sometimes the most powerful weapon is love.

REVIEW: Well…this sequel was certainly a surprise. To say that ‘I didn’t see that coming’ would be putting it mildly. This story picks up nicely where the first one left off.

Aden is expecting and Blaze still has not gotten himself together emotionally. Actually, allow me to just focus on that for a minute. For an alpha, Blaze was the most insecure alpha wolf I’ve ever encountered in a shifter story. I felt that he and Aden’s part of the relationship couldn’t move forward because of it. It was constant miscommunications or no communications with Connor and Darric acting as intermediaries between the two. That aspect of the book got old after a while.

Blaze is kidnapped while on one of his emotional cleansing hikes after yet another misunderstanding between him and Aden and the madman from Aden’s old pack kidnaps Blaze. Again, Aden ends up in the path of this madman although this time it’s voluntary to save Blaze. This is where the ‘I didn’t see that coming moment’ comes in.

A character is eliminated and it’s not a peripheral character. And that’s when the book took a downturn for me.

“That’s not how this works; that’s not how ANY of this works!”

Yes, that’s what I kept thinking and saying after the elimination. To say I was confused would be putting it mildly. The author’s decision to make a character disappear left me feeling robbed. Like I-was-mugged and- my- purse- stolen robbed. I am too outdone.  I kept thinking that  maybe the character isn’t really gone, they’re just off taking an extend nap or something. But alas, that is not the case. I would’ve thought that, at the very least, the character would make a brief reappearance, but…no. They’re just…gone. And it was my FAVORITE character too, dang it!

At the end, nothing was resolved which left the book feeling like it was unfinished. Not only that but it didn’t even end on a high note. No, people, you will not get a HEA or even a HFN ending with this one. I just hope that part three is a little brighter.

RATING: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
